Ikanga MCA ‘Sonko’ speaks after surviving Mob Justice in Nairobi

Cyrus Musyoka alias Sonko, the Ikanga MCA has made a notable comeback to the public sphere after a month of recuperation following a violent mob attack in Nairobi.

The incident occurred on September 16, 2024, after Musyoka was allegedly linked to a suspected theft in the downtown Kamukunji area, resulting in him being assaulted by a mob, which raised significant concerns regarding his safety and political reputation.

In his first address since the attack, Musyoka shared a short but uplifting post on Facebook, emphasizing resilience:

“A boy is born. A man is made from pain, disrespect, rejection, failure, and losses. Never give up.” The MCA said.

His statement highlights both his personal challenges and his commitment to serving his constituents.

The incident sparked broader discussions on security and the implications of mob justice. Many community leaders and fellow politicians condemned the attack, calling for a thorough investigation and reinforcing the importance of upholding the rule of law.

Musyoka’s return to social media has been met with an outpouring of support from constituents, who expressed relief at his recovery and encouraged him to persist in advocating for Ikanga’s interests with some hinting the Kitui south MP seat suits him.

“Sometimes we don’t have to buy propagandas going around, these are people who want to tarnish the good image of our great MCA… The people of Ikanga/Kyatune ward elected a leader who delivers, “Ones Mutuku said.
