Wiper MP: Why Gen Z need to call off demonstrations

Mwingi West MP, Charles Ngusya Nguna, has urged demonstrating Kenyans to cease their protests and give President William Ruto a chance to fulfill his promises.

In a Facebook post on his page, Nguna acknowledged that Ruto had already met some demands, such as rejecting the finance bill and dissolving the cabinet, and had promised further reconstruction efforts.

Nguna emphasized the importance of peace and stability, noting that prolonged demonstrations were adversely affecting Kenyans.

“Sometimes there comes a time when the peace and stability of the country is more important than anything else. Businessmen are suffering huge losses, Kenyans are losing lives, and we are all suffering from these prolonged demonstrations. Kenyans have a chance to revisit 2027 and do the right thing.”Nguna said.

The Wiper MP mentioned that he was the first MP to call for the dissolution of parliament in 2023 during a local radio interview, but now is the time to unite as a country.

He urged Kenyans to wait for the President to appoint a new cabinet and constitute the IEBC, giving the government a chance to serve.

“Fellow Kenyans, I was the first MP to call for the dissolution of parliament in 2023 during an interview on a local radio station. However, this is the time to unite as a country, let us cease these demonstrations, let’s wait for the president to appoint the cabinet, constitute the IEBC, and give this government a chance to serve us,” He went on.

He also highlighted that Kenyans have the opportunity in the 2027 elections to address any mistakes and that those dissatisfied with their MPs can recall them once the IEBC is in place.

“The sanctity of parliament has been violated, but electorates who are not contented with their MPs can recall them once the IEBC is in place,” Nguna added.

Nguna stressed the need for peace, pointing out the significant losses suffered by businessmen and the lives lost due to the prolonged demonstrations.
