Mwala Subcounty 2022 Security Report

A week after the new year began, the Mwala sub-county security department released a report on the security challenges and achievements they had throughout 2022.

Defilement cases in Mwala Subcounty have decreased by 60 percent in 2022 compared to 2021. In the report released by Mwala sub-county police commander Ronald Kirui, the decrease in the cases was attributed to the good engagement between residents and police as well as community policing.

The sub-county police commander further noted that assaults, general stealing, and creating disturbances have been on the high revealing that the majority of them involved family members.

“Defilement cases dropped significantly in fact by 60 percent from the previous year. However, there was a slight increase in assaults, creating disturbances, and general stealing. Most of these crimes were perpetrated by close family members and friends,” part of the report read.

Kirui called on locals to ensure that they engage the authorities and even clergy to solve their cases rather than taking law into their own hands.

The sub-county police commander revealed that drugs and substance abuse has been a menace in the sub-county as some of the members have been caught planting bhang in their farms, along river banks calling on the public to engage the police more.

“Drug abuse/ Bhang remains a challenge. Some members of our community have been caught planting ‘cannabis sativa’ in their own farms and along our rivers banks. Others are planting in flower pots within their compounds. Let’s all arise and fight this menace the same way we dealt with illicit brews and gambling machines. Just volunteer information to us. Let’s hold onto Community Policing as a crime prevention strategy. Remember ‘Security Starts With You and Me,” the report further read.

Masinga MP Joshua Mwalyo’s message to Kenyans on Hustler Fund

Masinga MP Joshua Mwalyo has urged Kenyans to come out in large numbers and take the Hustler Fund.

Mwalyo who spoke for the first time in public after being elected as an Independent candidate said that the Hustler Fund despite being a loan, the savings that were being made from the fund would in future be used for development.

Mwalyo who had attended public participation in Kivaa Ward said that it would be good for the people who borrowed the money to repay so as to boost their credibility.

“Embrace the Hustler Fund, it is meant to help you. You take 1,000, 1,500, or 2,000 you are building your credit rating, and the savings will help you build up your credit score,” said Mwalyo.

The legislator also noted that the hustler fund savings would ensure that in the coming days, it would be of help to the country in terms of bringing about development.

So far over 17.5 Million Kenyans have borrowed from the hustler fund. President Ruto in a previous interview revealed that the fund was financing itself as Kenyans had braced it through repaying the loans.

2 suspected thieves narrowly escape mob Killing after being caught redhanded in Site estate, Kitui

Two men who were found in possession of stolen household goods escaped death narrowly after irate locals descended on them in Site estate in Kitui town.

The two were cornered by an angry mob after their other two colleagues escaped with their getaway car, they received a thorough beating and were nearly lynched before the police came to rescue them.

After they were asked questions, the two men revealed that they came from Huruma Estate in Nairobi in a Toyota Axio which the other thugs escaped with.

Albert Mungai a resident of Site Estate said that he was at work when he was informed that there were thugs who broke into his house. Before the two were cornered by the residents, Mungai revealed that those who escaped had already made away with a few household goods such as laptops, mobile phones, and other accessories.

“I was at work when I was told that there are thieves in my house. I was assisted by the Boda Boda guys who helped me catch the two. We found a car in the parking which nearly knocked one of the Boda Boda riders. When I got into the house, we caught the two men before they could escape and when we asked them they said there is a man residing here in town who helps them to locate houses where their owners are not around,” Mungai told Mauvoo News.

Mungai added that insecurity has been an issue in the area because it is now the third time his house has been broken and household goods stolen. The residents called upon the security agencies in Kitui to beef up security because in December 2022 suspected robbers also killed a middle-aged man in Kitui town.

“We have been having a lot of attacks from thugs, especially in Site and Savani estate, today we caught two of the thieves and we gave them a serious beating before the police rescued them. It is bad behavior and we request the Kitui OCS and commandant to ensure that they tighten the security in Kitui town,” Kyalo Philip a Kitui Boda Boda rider added.

The two injured thugs were taken to Kitui police station as detectives started manhunting their other comrades who escaped. Kitui residents have been complaining of insecurity, especially in Majengo, Savani, Site, Kalundu, and Kunda Kindu areas.

Mutuse eyes Mega Dam for Kibwezi West

Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse has said that he is working on long-term measures to provide enough water for irrigation so as to put an end reliance on relief food.

Speaking while distributing relief food in Kikumbulyu, Mutuse revealed that they are in discussion with National Government to have one of the 100 Mega dams in the constituency.

“We are in discussion with the National Government to have one of the 100 mega dams constructed in Kibwezi. We have also requested relevant state departments to consider available huge chunks of land at TARDA in Kibwezi, the University of Nairobi field station at Kasayani, and Ukai land in Emali for the proposed Irrigation,” Mutuse said.

In October, President Ruto revealed a plan to construct 100 large dams in the country to boost water harvesting for agricultural purposes.

Over 3000 vulnerable families from Kikumbulyu North and South wards benefited from the relief food distributed by the Kibwezi West MP.

Kibwezi is among regions that have experienced long-term drought and short rains thus being difficult for the residents to have enough food for themselves and their livestock.

Mutuse noted that he will ensure through collaboration with the National Government the people of Kibwezi continue to receive relief food and no child will fail to go to school due to food shortages.

“I wish to thank President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for ascending to my request for more food for my Constituency,” He went on.

Mulyungi: Kalonzo is the only person who can defeat Ruto in 2027

0

Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi has said that it will be easy for Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to defeat President William Ruto in the 2027 polls.

In an interview with Mutongoi TV, a local TV station, Mulyungi said that Kalonzo is the viable option for the presidency and with his suave demeanor has managed to win over Kenyans.

Mulyungi noted that the Mount Kenya region voted for Ruto in the 2022 polls because there was no other alternative asserting that this time round they won’t let Kalonzo rally behind anyone.

“The only person I know can be president now is Kalonzo Musyoka, he is accepted by everyone and this time round we won’t allow Kalonzo to support someone else for the fifth time,” said Mulyungi.

“There was a perception that the deep state can make one a president but the perception was demystified by Ruto. So the same way Ruto was able to clinch the presidency without the support of the Government is the same way we will win without the Government while he has it at the palm of his hands,” he added.

The vocal legislator took a swipe at Wiper leaders pushing ODM leader Raila Odinga to leave Azimio leadership to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

According to Mulyungi, The wiper brigade should devise ways of wooing the voters before thinking of depending on Raila.

“Leadership is sought not given and those leaders pressurizing Raila to let Kalonzo inherit Azimio and its followers are misleading him,” The MP went on.

Matungulu Boda Boda Chairman message to DCI

Department of Criminal Investigations in Machakos County has been urged to ensure they clear all pending cases pertaining to theft and accidents of Motorbikes.

Speaking to Mauvoo News, Matungulu Subcounty Boda Boda Chairman Joel Mwendwa said that several years have passed and many unresolved cases are still in court pending investigations.

“Many Boda Boda riders have lost their lives and their motorbikes have been stolen and still no case or any person has been arrested concerning the same. I request the DCI to ensure all pending cases have been cleared so that our people can get the justice they deserve,” said Mwendwa.

“Let them make haste in resolving these cases because we do not want our people to start taking matters into their own hands. It has been years with no results on the cases,” he added.

Further, Mwendwa called on parents who have motorbikes and are giving them to their children to ensure first they have a license as well as road safety training.

“Parents don’t give your children motorbikes when they do not have road safety training, because many accidents have been caused by those kids,” The chairman went on.
