Machakos County Health Executive Justus Kasivu has stepped in to address mounting frustrations among residents struggling to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA) program.
Speaking during a public forum in Kathiani, Kasivu acknowledged the rising complaints from locals who have been unable to complete their registration, despite attempts to seek help from Community Health Promoters (CHPs) and nearby health facilities.
“I have learned that some residents are facing difficulties in registering with SHA. I want to assure them that our CHPs are ready to assist, and if that fails, they should visit the nearest government health facility for support,” Kasivu said.
This intervention comes after a resident reported being unable to register, even with assistance from CHPs or the local facility.
Kasivu advised those facing such challenges to seek help at Machakos Level Five Hospital, where the necessary equipment and personnel are in place to handle complex cases.
The health boss emphasized that enrolling in the SHA program is crucial in preventing families from falling into financial ruin due to medical expenses.
“Registering for SHA will reduce the burden of hefty hospital bills, avoid prolonged hospital stays, and eliminate the need for fundraisers,” he added.
