Ex-Machakos Gubernatorial aspirant in the 2022 elections Nzioka Waita has landed a job at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change. Waita will be the managing director of Africa Advisory.
The announcement was made by The Institute on their Linked In page saying, “We are delighted to announce that Nzioka Waita is joining TBI as our new Managing Director for Africa Advisory. Nzioka arrives with skills and capabilities that embody the best of TBI’s value proposition as advisors to political leaders on strategy, policy, and delivery – all enabled by technology. He is the former Chief of Staff to the (former) President of Kenya, a position he assumed after founding the President’s delivery unit. Recently, he worked with TBI as an independent advisor to support our teams worldwide, driving radical but practical policy solutions for leaders.”
“Before his experience in Kenyan politics and government, Nzioka spent fourteen years at Safaricom PLC, Kenya’s largest telecommunications company, including four years as head of corporate affairs. His career began in the practice of law and he holds a master’s degree in IT and telecommunications law. Welcome to TBI, Nzioka!”The post went on.
Waita in response narrated his career journey through Safaricom for 14 years transforming lives and building one of Africa’s most profitable and admired brands. He then proceeded to Statehouse for 8 years before quitting in 2022 to join politics.
“In 2022,I resigned from the Government of Kenya and jumped feet first into the political arena when I vied for the position of Governor in my home county of Machakos. It was a life-changing experience. I came close, but not close enough to win. However, it did re-ignite my desire to improve myself as a leader for the future—a political future with purpose at its heart.” Waita narrated.
