A family in Kathiani, Machakos has been given a second chance after facing a seemingly insurmountable tragedy.
Their loved one’s passing in a Nairobi hospital left them with a staggering medical bill of Ksh 2.5 million, a debt that forced them to surrender their title deed to the hospital as collateral.
The emotional weight of their loss was compounded by the fear of losing their home, leaving the family in despair.
Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, upon learning of their plight, stepped in to rally resources from friends and well-wishers. Her efforts cleared the hospital debt and ensured the family’s title deed was returned to them, securing their future.
Speaking about the incident, Governor Ndeti reflected on the power of faith and community, emphasizing that no family should have to endure such a burden alone.
“I was briefed on the incident and I was able to mobilize enough resources through friends and people of goodwill. We eventually settled the colossal debt,” wrote Wavinya on her page.
The family could not hide their tears as the governor presented to them their title deed back.
