Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched a scathing attack on Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, accusing him of disrespecting Kalonzo Musyoka.
Makau missed a key Wiper function hosted by Kalonzo Musyoka at his Tseikuru home on Thursday, as well as rallies held today in Machakos County.
Speaking during a rally in Mavoko, Gachagua urged Mavoko residents to reject Makau in the 2027 general election, accusing him of betraying the party and aligning with President William Ruto.
According to Gachagua, Makau has abandoned the ideals of Wiper and the leadership of Kalonzo Musyoka and urged the electorate of Mavoko to send him home.
He emphasized that Kalonzo is a respected national leader, and any show of disrespect, especially from within Wiper, should not be tolerated.
“Tunasema tukifukuza Kasongo, tunaua nyoka pamoja na mayai. Yeye kama mjumbe wa hapa Mavoko lazima afuate Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka. Itakuwaje watu wa Nyeri, Nyandarua wanamheshimu Kalonzo na mjumbe wenu analeta mchezo? Itawezekana kweli? Wasaliti waende.” Gachagua posed, drawing cheers from the crowd.
“Itakuwaje wakati tunaokoa Kenya mjumbe hafuati Kalonzo Musyoka? Tunataka mfundishe hii wajumbe adabu, huyu Kiongozi (Kalonzo) anaitaji wabunge wa kumshikilia.” Rigathi added.
Makau was among Wiper MPs who last year defied the party line and voted in support of Gachagua’s impeachment.
Makau, in response, said Gachagua does not mean well for the Kamba community and even if a motion to impeach him was brought before parliament again, he would still vote yes.
