Makau warns Wavinya Over her Deputy’s Insults

Mavoko MP Patrick Makau has warned Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti sternly, accusing her of orchestrating recent attacks by her deputy, Francis Mwangangi.

Speaking during the burial of a businesswoman in Muindi Mbingu, Kamuthanga, Makau did not mince words as he addressed the growing political tensions.

Makau dismissed the Deputy Governor’s allegations against him as baseless, suggesting they were part of a larger scheme spearheaded by Wavinya.

“When a child insults you, they’ve heard their parents doing the same. So, when I hear Mwangangi insulting me, I don’t see him, I see Wavinya,” he declared, eliciting murmurs from the crowd.

The MP defended himself against claims that he had incited individuals to speak ill of the Governor, emphasizing his respect for her leadership. “I have never sent anyone to abuse Wavinya because I respect her as my governor. But let it be clear—if her deputy targets me again, I’ll go after her directly,” Makau warned.

He also addressed speculation about his political future, particularly his bid for the Machakos gubernatorial seat in 2027. Makau dismissed those questioning his eligibility, arguing that his family ties to Wavinya—his cousin—should not be an issue.

“When the people of Mavoko first elected me in 2007 and in every election since, they knew I was Wavinya’s cousin. Why is it suddenly a problem now that I want to vie for governorship?” he posed, asserting his right to contest any elective seat.

Makau’s fiery remarks have added fuel to the simmering political rivalry in Machakos County, setting the stage for a dramatic showdown in the next general election.

As leaders and residents digest his statements, all eyes are now on how Governor Wavinya and her deputy will respond.
