Family seeks justice for NYS officer killed in Yatta

A National Youth Service (NYS) Officer has been found murdered and his body dumped in a farm at Kithimani, Yatta – Machakos county.

The 22-year-old officer identified as Simon Ng’ang’a Mwirigi was found killed on a 250-acre private farm while in his full uniform. The family said that their son had gone missing for two days before his body was discovered.

He was based at Kithimani NYS field station and investigations into the incident have begun.

His family in Gatundu South, Kiambu County is calling for the police to hasten the investigations and bring the perpetrators to book.

The incident was confirmed by Yatta sub-county criminal investigations officer(SCCIO) Benard Rono who said that two-night guards have been arrested in connection with the murder.

The two watchmen are currently helping the police with the investigations. According to a post moterm report, the officer dies from manual strangulation. He also suffered a head injury after being hit with a blunt object.
