Wife of traffic police officer killed in Mombasa cries for justice

The wife of Julius Marwa, the traffic police officer killed last week after a motorist ran him over is calling for justice over his death.

The woman identified as Florence Matinde told the press that she fears justice may not prevail because some government officials are interfering with the case.

“My husband was brutally killed, when I looked at his body I could not believe it was him. I don’t know how we will cope as a family, I would l like to urge the Government and human rights activists to intervene and ensure my husband gets justice,” said the widow in tears.

“There are people from Nairobi who are trying their best to ensure the case doesn’t see the light of day,” Florence added.

Florence and members of her family had arrived at Muslim Human Rights offices where they addressed the press.

John Rioba Marwa died on Tuesday last week after a motorist allegedly trapped his hand and drove off with the officer’s body hanging before running him over with the rear wheel.

The incident took place at around 4:30 pm at Buxton Junction where the officer was manning.

After the accident, he was rushed to Jocham hospital where the medics pronounced him dead.
