A boda boda operator died after a ghastly accident along the Thika-Garissa road on Tuesday morning.
According to Yatta traffic commander Paul Cheptirim the 24-year-old man lost control of his bike and hit a tree between Kithimani law courts and Kithimani police station in Yatta sub-county of Machakos county.
The traffic boss said that the rider died on the spot while the pillion passenger a 17-year-old boy sustained slight injuries.
According to the officer, the rider was drunk during the accident.
The passenger was rushed for treatment at a private hospital in Kithimani while the body of the rider was moved to Mbaku funeral home for preservation awaiting burial arrangements.
“The other person had slight injuries and is being treated while the body of the rider has been moved to Mbaku funeral home,” he said.
The wreckage of the motorbike was towed to Kithimani police station and investigations into the incident have already begun.
