Deputy Governor Elect Mwangangi reacts to defection of 4 Ukambani MPs to Kenya Kwanza

Machakos Deputy Governor elect Francis Mwangangi has come out guns blazing at leaders who supported Azimio during campaigns and have now defected to William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza.

Speaking at Ikalaasa Catholic Church in Mwala Subcounty after a church service, Mwangangi said that it was uncalled for and it was a show that the leaders did not have any political stand. He noted that it was too early for the leaders to decamp as the case challenging the presidential results was still headed to court.

“I want to tell the Ukambani Azimio elected leaders that have gone to Kenya Kwanza that you have gone early and this shows that you have no political stand and it is good that we show respect where it is due,” he said.

“Your campaign posters had pictures of the Azimio team in them and even before the supreme court decides on the presidential petition, you have already decamped. That is uncalled for,” he added.

Mwangangi further thanked Ukambani for voting overwhelmingly for Azimio La Umoja and Wiper Party saying that this was a show that Kalonzo Musyoka was still the Ukambani Kingpin.

“I want to thank the Kamba community for voting in large numbers and supporting Wiper and Azimio La Umoja in the concluded elections. It shows that as Kamba community we are united and Kalonzo is our leader,” Mwangangi went on.

The leaders who have moved to Kenya Kwanza despite being affiliated to Azimio La Umoja during campaigns include Machakos Town MP Caleb Mule, Mwengi Mutuse of Kibwezi West who were both in Maendeleo Chap Chap Party.

Others include Masinga MP Joshua Mwalyo who was an independent candidate and Kangundo MP Fabian Kyule of GDDP.
