All Matungulu and Kangundo MCAs lose bid to defend their seats

All sitting MCAs in Kangundo and Matungulu constituencies, Machakos county lost in the August 9 polls and were replaced by new candidates.

In Kangundo Central Ward, Moses Mitaa who was the incumbent and was vying on a Wiper ticket lost his seat to Dickson Maundu of Maendeleo Chap Chap while in Kangundo East Ward Grace Munini Mutwiwa who was vying on a wiper ticket lost her seat to Evelyn Nzeki of Maendeleo Chap Chap Party.

In Kangundo Central Ward, 5 MCAs including the incumbent Moses Mitaa reported to the police that Maendeleo ChapChap candidate for the seat was bribing voters while they were going to cast their votes. Addressing the press they termed that as malpractice and called for the results to be nullified as they were not free and fair.

In Kangundo North Ward, Matthew Ndunda an Independent Candidate clinched the seat from John Nzomo who was the incumbent.

In Kangundo West Ward, the Deputy Minority Leader in the last County Assembly Kaloki Ikusya lost hard to Charles Mbuva on a Grand Dream Development Party.

In Matungulu sub-county, the chairman of the Health Committee in Machakos County assembly and also the MCA for Matungulu East Ward Cosmus Ngula Masesi lost to Julius Munywoki on a UDA ticket while in Matungulu North Mathias Mambo an Independent Candidate trounced the incumbent Michael Nthuma Mutiso.

In Matungulu West Ward, the incumbent Moffat Maitha declared he was not going to vie and the Wiper party took the seat through Raphael Lucky Nzau.

In Kyeleni Ward, the incumbent Josphat Kasyoki who was vying on a CCU party ticket lost to Grace Bahati, a youthful leader who was vying as an independent candidate.
