Alarming Trend in Kangundo Raises Concern

Rising cases of child defilement in Kangundo have sparked growing concern among residents and leaders alike.

The worrying trend has prompted urgent calls for intervention, with community leaders urging authorities to act swiftly to safeguard children and address the challenges threatening their well-being.

2027 Kangundo Constituency MP aspirant, Stella Nzembia, a community advocate committed to social welfare, has joined the call for action.

Speaking after attending a church service at the African Brotherhood Church Kalimani, Kangundo, Nzembi urged parents to promptly report such cases to the authorities. She emphasised that speaking out is the first step to ensuring children are protected, supported, and able to pursue their education without fear or disruption.

“There are many cases of defilement happening in our communities, and I want to urge parents to not only take greater responsibility but also to promptly report defilement cases to the authorities. This will help ensure that our children are protected and supported to continue with their Education, ” Nzembi said.

The aspirant further called on the government to intervene by setting up counselling centres within the communities. She emphasised that such facilities would provide safe spaces where children could seek help whenever they face difficulties.

“I urge the Government to set up counselling centres in our communities so that children have a safe space to seek help and share when faced with pressing matters,” Nzembi added.
