Speaking at Kakutha, Kangundo Sub-County, Dr. Yumbya emphasized the importance of political tolerance, especially as the country prepares for the next general elections.
“We’ve seen several instances where political meetings—mostly by opposition leaders—are being disrupted. This is unacceptable. Our youth must not allow themselves to be misused by politicians to cause chaos,” said Dr. Yumbya.
The former CECM who has declared his interest in the Machakos senatorial seat in 2027, also urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to commence voter registration. He encouraged Kenyans, particularly the youth, to take advantage of the opportunity to register and participate in choosing their leaders.
“I urge all Kenyans to register as voters so they can elect leaders of their choice. And when that time comes, reject any leader who has been associated with violence or disruption,” he added.
Dr. Yumbya further challenged current leaders to focus on fulfilling their development pledges rather than engaging in divisive politics.
“Leaders must deliver on their promises. The public deserves service, not endless political wrangles,” he said.
His remarks come amid growing concern over political intolerance and increased cases of disrupted rallies across various parts of the country.
