Kitui County Assembly has been recognized as the best-performing institution nationally in the category of County Executives and County Assemblies at the 2025 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards an event organized by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) and held at the CPA Centre in Nairobi.
The event was attended by several leaders including Speaker of the Kitui County Assembly Kevin Kinengo , Majority Leader Harrison Maluki, members of the Public Investments and Accounts Committee led by Minority Whip Gabriel Munyao, the Audit Committee chaired by Michael Muthui Kimwele, and members of the County Assembly Service Board.

While receiving the award Speaker Kinengo was greatful stating that the recognition that places Kitui County Assembly at the forefront of good governance and financial integrity among county institutions in Kenya while noting that such accolades promote best practices in public financial management and inspire continuous improvement.
“This award is a testament to our unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in financial stewardship. It belongs to every Member of the County Assembly, our dedicated staff led by the Acting Clerk, the Audit Committee, and the people of Kitui County whom we serve,” said Speaker Kinengo during the ceremony.
“To the people of Kitui County, this honour reaffirms our pledge to responsible resource management, open governance, and the delivery of development through sound oversight and public participation,” Speaker Kinengo added.
