Saumu Mbuvi, daughter of former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, shared her reasons for moving to Dubai via social media.
She cited safety, technological innovation, and ample business opportunities as her primary motivations for the move. As a mental health activist and a mother of two, she shared her decision in a candid video, expressing clear enthusiasm for Dubai’s overall environment. This move, which she recently made, signals a significant shift in both her personal and professional life.
In the video, Mbuvi conveyed a profound sense of security she experiences in Dubai. She emphasized its unmatched safety, even when walking alone late at night. “There is a safety that Dubai gives me… unmatched. So, I am a lady, and the other day I just left the house, walked out at 2:00 am to go look for food and I was alone in the road and felt safe. And that safety is what had me feeling like this is my home,” Saumu stated.
This sense of security strongly appealed to her as a mother concerned about the well-being of her children. Furthermore, she praised Dubai’s status as a leading technology hub, aligning perfectly with her own keen interest in innovation and the advancements of smart city technologies. “I am a woman who is into technology. I am in innovation, and Dubai is a technology hub. I love tech so much,” Saumu explained.
Mbuvi further admired Dubai’s governing rules, particularly the focus on kindness and humanity. She noted, “Dubai is a city that is led by kindness, and if anything, you would choose to be in this world, at least choose to be kind.”
Saumu expressed her strong desire to instill these values in her children, seeing Dubai as an exemplary model of such principles. Additionally, she highlighted the city’s vast and diverse business opportunities, especially in real estate, which she believes will support her personal and professional growth.
In her post’s caption, Mbuvi elaborated on Dubai’s business-friendly environment. She also pointed out its strategic location, and its strong focus on artificial intelligence and technology. This, she believes, fosters substantial growth. She pointed to the city’s world-class infrastructure and attractive tax benefits, making it an ideal place for entrepreneurs.
Furthermore, she stressed Dubai’s status as a remarkably safe city, attributing this to its strict laws and political stability. Her move reflects her pursuit of a secure and innovative environment. Her openness about her reasons for moving sheds light on the many aspects of Dubai that appeal to international residents.
