Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga In Mourning

The family of Former Chief Justice Of Kenya Willy Mutunga is in mourning after the loss of their son Athman Mutunga aged 50 who was receiving treatment at a hospital in Nairobi.

Athman had undergone 4 surgeries in the last 2 months and the family did not disclose what he was suffering from.

Chief Justice Martha Koome sent a message of condolence to the family noting that the judiciary was with the family during this period of mourning.

“On behalf of the Judiciary family and on my own behalf, I extend our deepest condolences to Emeritus Chief Justice (Rtd) Dr. Willy Mutunga and his family on the heartbreaking loss of his beloved son, Athman Mutunga,” said CJ Koome.

“We stand with the Mutunga family in grief during this incredibly difficult time. While words may never fully ease the pain of death of a loved one, we hope that the family finds comfort in the cherished memories shared with Athman. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mutunga family, and we pray that Athman’s soul rests in eternal peace,” she added.

In keeping with the Muslim traditions, the burial was held on Sunday, October 13, at 4 pm in Kitui County.
