Ezekiel Mutua Remembers Day he Caught the attention of President Moi

The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ezekiel Mutua has reminisced on the day he met President Arap Moi when he was still a student at Kenyatta University.

Speaking to students at the inaugural graduation ceremony of Kenya College of Interior Design, Mutua remembered how his short prayer caught the attention of President Moi and formed a long-lasting friendship.

While encouraging the graduates to always take the chance to introduce themselves and if they don’t get the chance to always offer to pray, Mutua narrated how he almost lost the opportunity to speak to President Moi.

Mutua and his team were chosen to visit the president at the statehouse and he was selected to speak on behalf of the team. when they got to the statehouse they met another team who had also come to see the president but due to time constraints the two teams were put together to see the president.

As fate would have it, the leader of the other team was appointed to speak on behalf of the two teams.

“When the president walked in he asked for the chairman, but I stood up first and offered to pray before the meeting started. In my short prayer I praised the president and prayed for his long life,” said Mutua.

“Even as I was praying I could see the president was very much interested,” he added.

According to Mutua their designated chairman never got the opportunity to speak as the president only wanted to listen to him.

Mutua went on to narrate how his courage to grab the small opportunity he saw made the president recognize him and opened big opportunities for him.

The Kenya College of Interior Design held its first graduation today 26th April 2024.
