Kamba Benga Musician Alex Kasau Katombi has alleged that Kenya Films Classification Board CEO Ezekiel Mutua was trying to convince the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) that his new song ‘curfew’ was meant to be an insult to president Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a Facebook post, Katombi said that his new song known as Curfew wasn’t an insult to the president but it was a way of expressing his opinions considering the lockdown that has been experienced in the Country since the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.

“Mutua and the team of KKK Are trying to convince the DCI That kwa song curfew nimetusi president by translating it wrong.. And they want to summon me.. Seriously? We are struggling to survive now is 3rd month without working.” The singer in the post said.

“And when we try to do something to get food, rent, pay electricity, water, you are there trying to bring us down. I am inviting my fans to accompany me. I will post the date and time. hatters you can join the KKK Team, ” Katombi added.

In the Curfew song, Katombi is heard singing that his fans have been asking about his well being even though there has been lockdown and movement restrictions and artists are struggling. He alleges that funds given to MCSK for creatives ended up in a few individual’s pockets.

Bazu as he is also known asks what the president wants musicians to eat. He adds that he warned Kenyans against voting the Jubilee Government. Katombi asks where Raila is to save Kenyans.

Katombi recently took on the KFCB Boss for saying vernacular Kamba musicians had contributed to the increase in teenage pregnancies in Machakos County where he asked the CEO to stop hating on Kamba musicians as their songs do not promote immorality in the region.

KFCB boss Ezekiel Mutua had said vulgar Kamba songs were to blame for the high teenage pregnancies noting that the survey done by the classification board identified Machakos top in vulgarity. He said that musicians had sexualized their stage names and even glorified teenage pregnancies not to mention rape and this has led to it in society.

An alarming report released by Machakos Children’s officer revealed that Masinga Sub-county and Athi River Sub-County lead in terms of teenage pregnancies in Machakos County. Masinga had 705 cases, Athi-River 568 cases, Mwala 532, Matungulu 506, Yatta 472, Kathiani 403, Kangundo 323, Machakos 307, and Kalama 148.
