The chilling murder of Victoria Mumbua, a taxi driver, has been brought to light following an autopsy that revealed she was struck on the head with a blunt object and later strangled.
Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor speaking to the press after the Post mortem disclosed that Mumbua was hit severally on the head.
“The late Mumbua had several injuries which included severe head injury, the assailant hit her several times on the head and later strangled her to death,” Oduor said.
“There were also what looked like defensive injuries on the arm meaning she was defending herself also.” He added.
The primary suspect, Edwin Ngetich, confessed that while in Mombasa he requested a trip to Samburu then Diani on September 27, which Mumbua responded to.
While on the road, he allegedly attacked her with a blunt object, bound her in the back of the car, and took control of the vehicle.
As they approached Kibwezi, Mumbua reportedly pleaded with him to release her, but he chose instead to strangle her.
Ngetich then drove to Mahi Mahiu, where he disposed of her body by the roadside in Lari, Kiambu County, before continuing on his journey. However, police arrested him in Nakuru, placing him in custody. Mumbua’s body was found in City Mortuary on 29th September.
During the investigation, Ngetich led authorities to various locations in Mt. Elgon, Butere, Uasin Gishu, and Nakuru, where police recovered vehicles believed to be connected to his activities.
The grieving family of Mumbua, a mother of three, awaits the conclusion of the investigation, with plans underway to lay her to rest in Kikoneni, Lungalunga, Kwale County.
