Maanzo blames Wiper in-house wrangles, unfair nominations for Nguu/Masumba by-election loss

Makueni MP Daniel Kitonga Maanzo has revealed what made Wiper Party lose in the Nguu/Masumba by-elections held on Thursday 14th October 2021.

Speaking to a local Radio Station, Maanzo disclosed that in-house wrangles in the party during the party nominations greatly affected the party and that there is a need to restructure the party starting from the grassroots leadership.

“We will follow up in Wiper to make sure that no one feels left out during the party nominations. We will ensure that the ticket is given to the right person and you can all attest that there is no party without challenges.” Maanzo said.

On the latest loss in Nguu-Masumba, Maanzo says this is because of some of the leaders who don’t follow the party’s regulations and are focused on their own political interests.

“There are situations where a candidate is preferred by the people but he or she fails to get the party ticket because of some people at the party with their selfish interests. We want to give each one an opportunity and freedom to participate in party elections and also nomination,” he said.

Maanzo also requested those who are weakening the party to resign before they are expelled.

“Those who are in Wiper party and they intend to divide the party, I request them to get out of the party before we kick them out. There is no political leader from 2007 who hasn’t been raised by the Wiper Party or Kalonzo after we defected from ODM.” He went on.

Timothy Maneno Independent candidate won with 2,902 votes representing 43 percent of the votes cast. Daniel Kivuva Musau of UDA was second with 2,219 votes and Wiper’s Eshio Maundu Mwaiwa was last with 1,614 votes.
