Muvilani Group fear Eviction from B2 Yatta Ranch After Attack

Muvilani youth group has finally spoken over allegations of invading B2 Yatta Ranch in Kitui Rural Constituency. The youth-led by their spokesman David Kimoli disclosed that most of the youths are reformed drug addicts who resolved to do farming in the ranch.

Recently the youth were attacked and seven injured and some of their crops were destroyed.

Kimoli speaking to the media said that “We went to court but coming back we found that our crops have been destroyed and we are risking eviction from the ranch and we fear that we will go back to our old habits of drug abuse and result in stealing.”

The youth asked the Ministry of Interior to come and help them because they are being attacked by the management of the B2 ranch.

Kyalo Kamende another who spoke to Mauvoo News said that “The management of this ranch portrays us as a deadly gang but we are youths who are determined to change our lives through farming and we would request to sit together and agree so that peace may prevail in this ranch.” Kyalo also disclosed that some of their farm produce are rotting because they no longer take them to the market as they fear being attacked on their way to the market.

Kitui County Commissioner Thomas Sankei has said that they have taken the wrangles that have been in B2 Yatta Ranch with a lot of concern. Members of B2 Yatta Ranch in Kitui Rural have been having conflicts with the Muvilani Youth group where they have been alleging that the youth group has been attacking them and destroying their crops and animals.

“We have heard your cry and since the matter has also been taken to court, but we want to assure that peace will be restored in the area and things go back to normal,” Commissioner Sankei said.

Sankei has also called upon the stakeholders in the ranch to come together and know the number of people carrying out activities in the ranch to avoid more people invading the ranch. He has also disclosed that the security organs have liaised with Lower Yatta sub-county security organs to ensure that there are no more wrangles in the ranch.
