Wiper has a militia group that terrorizes locals during by-elections – Mwengi Mutuse

Machakos county chief of staff Mwengi Mutuse now alleges that the Wiper party has a militia group that terrorizes people during by-elections.

Speaking after Timothy Maneno was announced the winner in Nguu/Masumba by-elections, Mutuse called on Matiang’i to launch investigations on the group.

“We have noticed that the Wiper party now has a militia group. This group has been terrorizing people when there are by-elections. They terrorized us in Mutonguni, in Machakos during senatorial by-elections and Kitise Kithuki.”

“We know the laws of this country don’t allow parties to have militia groups. It is not different from Mungiki, Sungu sungu, and others. We now want to request the cabinet secretary for Interior to find it necessary to investigate and ban this group. We are in an election year and we don’t want post-election violence. They beat our people, vehicles were arrested with pangas and rungus. The leadership of that group is known. ” He added.

Mutuse challenged Governor Kibwana, Mutua, and Ngilu to bring the people together to advance the interest of the community at the national table.

On the eve of the by-elections, Goons alleged to be Wiper supporters Wednesday evening attacked media crew onboard a Toyota Vitz and also destroyed UDA campaign manager James Mbaluka’s vehicles.

Timothy Maneno Independent candidate won with 2,902 votes representing 43 percent of the votes cast. Daniel Kivuva Musau of UDA was second with 2,219 votes representing 33 percent of the votes cast. Wiper’s Eshio Maundu Mwaiwa was last with 1,614 votes representing 24 percent of the votes cast.

A joyous Kibwana speaking in Kikuumini thanked the people of Nguu for electing his candidate. He lauded the IEBC for carrying out the exercise free and fair. The Governor also praised police for professionalism during the hotly contested by-election.

“Even when people from a certain party attacked the media and brought goons from Mlolongo the police acted professionally. We congratulate the 2 other aspirants who faced off with Maneno and ask them to work with you well. You said Nguu is for Nguu people.” Kibwana said.
