Kalonzo speaks after Humiliating defeat in Nguu/Masumba by-election

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has spoken after a humiliating defeat in the Nguu/Masumba ward by-election – Makueni county.

In a statement from the SKM command center, Kalonzo congratulated Timothy Maneno on the victory and thanked the other candidates for putting up a brave fight.

“We take this opportunity to congratulate Timothy Maneno on winning the Nguu/Masumba ward seat on an independent ticket. We also thank other candidates including our Wiper candidate for putting up a brave fight.”Kalonzo in the statement said.

“The people of Nguu/Masumba have spoken through the ballot and we honor the decision. The violence witnessed in sections of the ward was unnecessary and against wiper ideals and ethos.” He went on.

In October 2019, Maendeleo Chap Chap Party also floored the Wiper Party in the Mutonguni Ward by-elections. This was despite the Wiper Party leader and several elected leaders camping in the Ward to popularise their party candidate for over a week.

According to Provisional results, Timothy Maneno the independent candidate who was backed by Governor Kibwana and Machakos Chief of Staff Mwengi Mutuse has won with over 2,800 votes.

Maneno is followed by UDA candidate Daniel Kivuva Musau who has over 2,000 votes while Eshio Mwaiwa of Wiper emerged last with over 1,600 votes.
