94M Matuu Hospital casualty wing to be completed by September

The new casualty wing at Matuu Level 4 Hospital, costing Ksh.94 million, is set for completion by September this year. This is according to Machakos County Health Executive, Dr. Daniel Yumbya.

While addressing journalists Yumbya confirmed that this project stems from public requests and addresses the pressing need for improved emergency services.

After inspecting the construction site, Yumbya highlighted that the existing facility is too small to handle emergencies, particularly accidents from the busy Thika-Garissa Highway.

“We need this new wing to better serve our community and handle local emergencies efficiently. The Governor has noted that many accident victims currently have to be taken to Thika, Machakos, or Nairobi. This new wing will change that.” Yumbya disclosed.

“We are hoping that by September the project will be completed and that is why I’m urging the contractor to fast-track the construction although it may take up to the next financial year,” he added.

Yumbya also shared plans for fully equipping the hospital and possibly upgrading it to a teaching hospital, further boosting its capacity to serve the community effectively.

During the visit, Yumbya was accompanied by Chief officers Justus Kasivu and Rashid Kala.
