Expectant mothers from the Kamuthanga area in the Mutituni/Ngelani Ward of Machakos County have something to smile about.
Machakos County Government through the Department of Health Fridat started the construction of a maternity wing at Kamuthanga dispensary.
Speaking during a public participation led by Mutituni/Ngelani ward MCA Yohanna Munyao, he disclosed that the construction of the maternity wing is expected to be complete within three weeks.
” I am happy today that after seven years now Kamuthanga Dispensary is set to have a maternity wing that will be of help to the residents and neighbors,” said Yohanna.
“I am grateful to Madam Wavinya for releasing funds for the construction and now as we speak the contractor is on the ground and we have even selected a Project Management Committee that has assured us that within three weeks it will be complete,” he added.
Furthermore, the MCA went to request Governor Wavinya to help them in acquiring land so they can continue to expand the dispensary as it was serving a big population, and where it is placed it cannot be expanded unless the land is bought.
“My request to the Governor is to help us in acquiring more land so that we can expand because the facility serves large areas,” he went on.
“This facility serves parts of Muthwani, Mua, and Mitaboni wards that’s why we need land and the neighbors are willing to be reallocated so the hospital can be expanded and offer more services to the people,” he added.
