Police in Yatta Sub-county have arrested 11 men over the murder of a woman in Kiaoni Village.
According to a police report, the woman namely Njeri Makau was burned to death by irate villagers who accused her of being a witch and the police have been hunting for the perpetrators.
“A total of eleven suspects were arrested last night from Kiaoni village for the offense of the murder of one Njeri Makau who was burnt to death on 28/7/2024 at her homestead by irate members of the public who were claiming that she is a witch,” read the report.
The report further revealed during the weekend leaflets had been circulated warning two other women of an impending attack for suspicion of being witches.
“This also follows the circulation of anonymous leaflets on Saturday night warning some two other women from the same village of their impending attack for suspicion of being witches,” read the report.
