Woman left disabled after gang rape incident in Machakos to get help

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has come to the rescue of the 60-year-old woman in need of medical attention after undergoing gang rape late last year that left her immobile.

Taking to Facebook, Wavinya noted that officers from the Social welfare docket have taken up the issue to ensure the woman gets the necessary treatment and guidance.

She condemned acts of Gender-based violence and called for the prosecution of the people who attacked the woman.

“I condemn with the strongest terms all manner of abuses, discrimination, and violation of women’s rights. I am particularly touched by a rape case of one woman from Tumba area of Machakos sub-county, who was gang-raped to the point of suffering a permanent disability,” Wavinya said.

“My officers from the Department of social welfare have taken up the matter and are working hard to ensure she undergoes the necessary medical procedures to restore her mobility. I call upon the police and other law enforcement agencies to swiftly pursue the perpetrators of this beastly act and bring the culprits (who are known to the victim) to book,” She went on.

Last week the victim appealed for help to acquire an orthopedic implant for her broken leg.
