Uproar over MP Nimrod Mbai’s remarks backing abductions

Remarks by Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai on abductions have resulted in a wide uproar on social media.

Speaking over the weekend in Mbeere North Mbai warned netizens not to joke with President Ruto saying freedom of speech is not guaranteed.

Alafu mtoto ambaye amevuta bangi anachora rais kama amekufa, amekaa kwa casket. Sasa mnaniambia nifanyane na hiyo kijana nini, hata kama nimeokoka,” Mbai remarked.

While expressing his disappointment Mbai described the creation and sharing of the images as disrespectful to the president and leadership as he called for greater responsibility in the use of technological material, stating that those behind the creation of the images must be met with the full force of the law to protect our leaders and ensure the safety of every Kenyan.

“Jipange kurudishia watu masikio, sisi tutakatia chini wewe unarudishia”.

Mbai emphasized that freedom of speech comes with accountability. He warned that those misusing technology to destabilize the country would face legal consequences.

“Kuanzia leo william Ruto awachwe kuchezewa na yeye. Freedom of speech iko, lakini freedom after speech itategemea kile umesema.” Mbai warned.

Mbai’s remarks came in the wake of remarks by Kenya Kwanza allied leaders that youths were abducting themselves. MP Oscar Sudi had also vowed to deal with people who make cartoons of the president in just 3 days if he could be made interior CS.
