Senator Kavindu Accused of Meddling in Katelembu Farmers Cooperative Society Affairs

In a fiery exchange, Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu has been urged to steer clear of the Katelembu Farmers Cooperative Society, with Chairman Wilson Muema accusing her of sowing discord and injecting politics into the organization.

Muema claims that Kavindu, who is not a member of the cooperative, has been rallying non-members to disrupt the crucial process of acquiring title deeds for legitimate members.

In a press interview, he asserted that her recommendations favor squatters over rightful members, which could have dire consequences.

“Senator Kavindu has no place in our affairs. She’s been inciting our members against me and stirring up confusion. If she believes she has something valuable to contribute, she should speak to me directly. Instead, she criticizes official court documents and undermines our efforts.”Muema said.

Muema further warned of the severe repercussions of Kavindu’s interference.

“By holding meetings with squatters and ignoring our members, she jeopardizes the entire process. Some members might not live to see their title deeds if she continues. Those supporting squatters on our members’ land should be prepared for significant losses.”He added.

The conflict underscores the tension between political figures and local cooperative societies, highlighting the delicate balance needed to protect members’ rights while navigating external influences.

Last month Senator Agnes Kavindu and the women representative Joyce Kasimbi visited some of the members and promised to fight for them and ensure they get what is rightfully theirs.
