Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has been elected as the Organizing Secretary for the Kenya Deputy Governors caucus.
He was elected during a Caucus meeting held by the Deputy Governors at the Council of Governors headquarters in Nairobi. The meeting focused on electing the Executive Forum and discussing key issues affecting the Office of the Deputy Governor, county governance, and future policies aimed at strengthening the relationship between the national government and devolved units.
Upon his election, Mwangangi expressed his gratitude via a post on Facebook, stating, “I am deeply humbled and honored to have been elected by my colleague deputy governors today to serve as their organizing secretary in the Deputy Governors’ Caucus for the next year.”
“This is a responsibility I accept with great gratitude as we defend devolution to ensure development at the grassroots level,” he added.
Mwangangi emphasized the critical role of devolution in fostering development at the grassroots, calling on his peers to continue their collective efforts to drive progress across the country.
Other leaders elected to new positions include Chairman Reuben Kamuri (Laikipia), Vice Chairman William Oduol (Siaya), Secretary Prof. Grace Cheresek (Elgeyo Marakwet) and Treasurer Philomena Kapkory (Trans Nzoia).
The election underscores the confidence and trust that their fellow deputy governors have placed in their leadership abilities, setting a strong foundation for advancing the devolution agenda in Kenya.
