Mwangangi Defends Wavinya’s decision to work with Ruto

Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi has denied claims that Wavinya Ndeti has ditched Wiper after she announced a decision to work with President William Ruto.

Addressing the press after launching the desilting of Mekilingi Dam in Yatta, Mwangangi said that his boss, the Governor of Machakos was still a Wiper member and respected her party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

He noted that it was not bad for Wavinya and Mutula Kilonzo to work with the government as it was a way of ensuring that their people benefit from the National Government.

“I want to take this opportunity to say that am a close friend to both Makueni and Machakos governors and they have been saying that they will work with the government. It does not mean that there is someone they are opposing politically. It does not mean they have decamped from the Wiper party to another party,” said Mwangangi.

“What they mean is that during this time of drought and hunger they shall work together with the government to ensure that these problems are dealt with. For example, in the launch of this dam the tractors are from the National government through NYS,” the Deputy governor added.

This comes days after Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti while attending a Thanksgiving service with President William Ruto said that she was going to work with his government and pledged to support him come 2027.
