Masinga: Kavindu Calls for Urgent Repair of Ambulance and drugs for Kivaa Hospital

Senator Agnes Kavindu has called upon Dr. Daniel Yumbya, Machakos County Executive Committee Member (CECM) of Health, to prioritize the repair of the ambulance serving Kivaa Level 3 Hospital.

Senator Kavindu’s call comes amidst reports that the malfunctioning ambulance has significantly hampered patients’ access to timely medical care, forcing them to resort to hiring private cars for transportation.

During her visit to Kivaa Level 3 Hospital, Senator Kavindu highlighted the dire situation faced by patients in need of urgent medical attention. She underscored the importance of having a functional ambulance to facilitate the swift transfer of patients to higher-level healthcare facilities.

“The challenge that they have is that the ambulance they have here has mechanical problems. When a patient comes here requiring quick attention, their own people have to go hire a car to take them to the hospital,” remarked Senator Kavindu.

The senator further emphasized the need for Machakos County’s healthcare system to ensure an adequate supply of medicine in hospitals. She expressed concern over reports of drug shortages, stating, “Let medicine be availed in hospitals. When patients come, they pay 50 shillings registration fee hoping to get all the services here, only to be told to go buy elsewhere.”
