Machakos Health CECM Daniel Yumbya has suspended an ambulance driver attached to Mbiuni Health Center, Mwala after the ambulance was spotted ferrying charcoal and utensils.

Speaking on Wednesday, Yumbya said that the ambulance was also intercepted carrying food going to a function and that Mwala sub-county MOH is also suspended following the action by their junior.

“The driver known as Daniel Musau is suspended forthwith and the MOH for the sub-county is suspended too to take charge for the mistakes of their juniors,” said Yumbya.

He narrated of another incident in Matuu level four hospital where a patient visited the hospital and found no one to attend to them.

According to Yumbya two clinicians at the hospital gave conflicting statements and investigations are ongoing.

“We have further established that two clinicians are giving conflicting reports on who was on duty on the fateful day. These two clinicians are suspended,” the CECM went on.

“I have formed a team of experts to do an inquiry led by Dr. Nthusi who is the Director of Medical Services in Machakos county among others starting tomorrow morning. First, they will find out who was on duty that day then report to me on Monday so that I can give further directions,” he added.

The health boss warned health workers over absconding their duties adding that stringent measures will be taken against anyone not doing their job diligently.
