Machakos Health CECM Daniel Yumbya says moonlighting by some of the health workers is threatening service delivery in the health facilities.
Speaking on Monday when he visited Masinga level 4 hospital Yumbya said that he is aware of health workers with licenses to work part-time.
He however warned them against using government time to work at their private facilities stating that action will be taken against anyone found culpable.
“I know some of you have private clinics which you operate. Just make sure you go there in the evening after work or on weekends, don’t use government time to work at your clinics and give baseless excuses. Also, remember if you are not going to be available for duty you must notify the sub-county director,” said Yumbya.
“You know when you report to your clinics in the morning and come here in the afternoon that is why some of you have foul moods thus being unable to serve a patient well remember what we said, our patients our clients,” he added.
The health boss said that quality services at the government hospitals will attract locals who flock to private facilities.
He noted that the county government is trying its best to equip all hospitals so that no one will be forced to travel long distances to get various services.
