A 25-year-old Denis Kithuka Kionzo was discovered dead after allegedly committing suicide.
His lifeless body was found hanging from the rooftop of his uncle’s house, with a sisal rope tight around his neck in the Nzombe area, Kitui.
Police officers revealed that no suicide note was recovered from the scene leaving the motive behind Kionzo’s decision to take his own life a mystery. Investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances leading up to this tragic event.
The deceased’s body has since been transported to the Mutitu Subcounty Hospital morgue, where it will undergo an autopsy.
This latest incident adds to a concerning trend of rising suicide cases within the country, prompting urgent calls for comprehensive intervention measures.
WHO has classified suicide as a significant global public health concern, ranking it among the top 20 leading causes of death worldwide reflecting the urgent need to address this alarming phenomenon.
