Mama Africa warns Bloggers Over ‘Ex-Husband’ Label

Popular Ukambani singer Mama Africa has issued a stern warning to bloggers and online platforms over what she describes as misleading reports linking her to her former husband.

The warning comes hours after Royal Media Services’ Musyi FM shared an interview poster inviting Steve Musyoka, who was previously married to the singer to share his side of the story. The invite followed Mama Africa’s recent appearance on the Nyangilika show hosted by Wavinya Mwiitu wa Muthiani, where she spoke candidly about the breakdown of their four-month marriage.

After Musyi FM published the interview poster on its social media pages, several bloggers reshared it with captions referring to Steve Musyoka as “Mama Africa’s ex-husband,” a statement which did not sit well with the Kamutu hitmaker.

In a strongly worded statement posted on her social media, Mama Africa expressed frustration over what she termed as continued and unnecessary association with her former partner.

“Bloggers, when you write that nonsense, do not mention me. I am not someone’s ex. Stop tarnishing my name,” she wrote.

The singer maintained that she does not wish to be dragged into stories that no longer concern her. She argued that repeatedly attaching her name to her former husband has caused reputational damage.

“Write his name. Mine should not be mentioned out of ignorance!” she added.

Mama Africa further accused some content creators of deliberately using her name to attract traffic and boost engagement.

“You have damaged me enough. Do not look for views using my name,” she warned.

Although she did not single out any specific blogger, attention has now shifted to Steve Musyoka, who is scheduled to appear on Musyi FM’s Nyangilika show on Saturday night to address the matter publicly.
