Makueni: Mother of Boy Killed in Emali Speaks

The Mother of a 19-year-old boy who was shot dead during the anti-government demonstrations in Emali, Makueni County has finally spoken.

Addressing the press in Emali town, Mirriam Mbithe who is the mother of Brian Muendo narrated how she struggled to educate her son only for him to die such a brutal death without even achieving his dream.

Miriam who is a widow said that Brian was her firstborn and at times she would sleep hungry to ensure that her two children were schooled.

She noted that Brian’s father died in 2014 leaving her to take care of her young family single-handedly and now her son who was her hope is gone.

Miriam said that Brian had gone out to see what was happening on the road when the bullet caught him and there he met his death.

“Brian was my first child and he was set to join University this year. I used to sleep hungry to ensure that he and his sister were fed and schooled, now my son is gone, my only hope is gone, he had promised to take care of me when he finishes his studies and now I have no one, my husband died and I was left with Brian and his sister and now he is no more all. I want is justice for my son” cried Brian’s mother.

Brian who sat for his KCSE in 2022 and scored a mean of C plus was waiting to join campus before he met his untimely death during the anti-government demos.
