There was drama in Makueni county assembly after 2 factions of the Wiper party clashed as Kyalo Mumo was kicked out as the Wiper majority leader.
Mumo was replaced by Kisungi Katete MCA Kithungo/Kitundu ward. Deputy majority leader Francis Mutuku was also kicked out and replaced by Bishop Jonathan Muthoka Ilima MCA. Magdalene Mulwa was removed as Majority Whip and replaced by Joyce Mwende deputized by Benedict Maneno.
MCA Albanus Wambua accused the former leadership of dining with UDA and failing to perform.
“Members of the wiper party have thought the other leadership that has been there for 2 years has not performed well and they have been dining with the UDA team. It is the decision of our people and members that we get a new team to take us to a new level.” Wambua said.
New Majority leader Kisungi Katete who leads one Wiper faction with majority of the MCAs speaking to the press outside Makueni County Assembly accused the former leadership of not being fair to nominated MCAs.
“We have decided to bring fairness to this Assembly. As majority leader, I will ensure everybody gets a fair share of what the County government gives to the Assembly.” Kisungi said.
The MCAs said they had no issue with Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr and the leadership changes were an Assembly affair.
Former Majority leader Kyalo Mumo who had called a press conference was shouted down by Wiper MCAs supporting the new leadership forcing him to cut his speech.
“There are ways to do leadership changes. As majority leader ive not gotten a notice from anyone. All elections must have notices. We have a few Wiper MCAs claiming they did elections. We also have cases of forgeries for the signatures. We want to tell the people of Makueni the party is strong.” Kyalo Mumo said as the Wiper MCAs began to shout him down.
