Maendeleo Chap Chap aspirants are in Azimio – Mutua’s right-hand man Mwengi Mutuse

Maendeleo Chap Chap candidate for Kibwezi West parliamentary seat and former Machakos chief of staff Mwengi Mutuse has broken the silence on whether he is in Azimio a month after his party leader Dr. Alfred Mutua decamped to Kenya Kwanza.

Addressing residents in Kibwezi in a rally attended by Azimio One Kenya coalition flag bearer Raila Odinga, Mutuse confirmed that he is rallying behind Raila Odinga. He also refuted claims that he followed his boss Governor Alfred Mutua.

“I want to categorically set the records straight while here at Kibwezi that I was the pioneer of Maendeleo Chap Chap party and we as aspirants are supporting Raila Odinga as the next president of Kenya,” Mwengi Mutuse said at the rally.

Mutuse served as Mutua’s Chief of Staff throughout the two terms of Mutua as a Governor of Machakos county.

Last month, he was listed among the team leading Raila Odinga’s campaigns in Lower Eastern. Other leaders included Prof. Kibwana, Nzioka Waita, Mutua Katuku among others.

The Rally was attended by other leaders who campaigned for Raila Odinga including Kalonzo Musyoka, Petter Kenneth, Francis Atwoli, Mukhisa Kituyi, Governor Kibwana, Senator Mutula, Daniel Maanzo, Erastus Kivasu, Jessica Mbalu among other leaders.

In his speech, Odinga promised to ensure compensation for the people whose land was acquired for the construction of Kibwezi-Kitui road and to resolve the issue of water shortage in Ukambani region.
