A 97-year-old woman from Kyakatulu village in Matungulu sub-county, Machakos County, is pleading for justice after allegedly being raped by a man she knew.
Recounting the horrific ordeal, the elderly woman shared that a few nights ago, a middle-aged man, reportedly a local tycoon, arrived at her home around midnight and woke her up.
The man allegedly claimed he was interested in leasing a piece of her land for planting. She told him it was too late to discuss business and asked him to return in the morning.
“My son woke me up, saying someone wanted to speak to me,” she recalled.
“When I went outside, a man with a vehicle was there, asking me to accompany him to the market. He promised me sh. 3,000 meant for leasing a piece of my land, ” she narrated.
After declining the offer, she returned to bed, securing her door with only a chair. Moments later, however, the man reportedly forced his way in, pushing through the door, restraining her, and sexually assaulting her while threatening to kill her if she screamed.
Now suffering from multiple injuries, the elderly woman says she hasn’t been able to sleep since the attack. She’s calling on authorities to take swift action against her assailant.
