A showdown is looming ahead of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s Lower Eastern leaders meeting at his Yatta home.

Last week, posters were released inviting clergy, elders, aspirant, professionals, and leaders to Kalonzo’s Yatta farm on the 15th January 2022.

On Monday 10th January, the 3 Lower Eastern leaders held a meeting where they agreed to mobilize the region to register as voters ahead of the IEBC second mass voter registration commencing on the 17th January.

“The meeting has resolved to mobilize the people of the three Counties and their diaspora to register as voters in large numbers once IEBC starts the second mass voter registration on 17th January 2022.” A communique from the meeting read in part.

“To prepare for this, we shall hold a leaders meeting bringing together elected and nominated political leaders, religious leaders, professionals, women, youth leaders, former elected leaders etc to lay out strategies for carrying out this noble exercise. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, as from 10.00 am in Machakos.” It went on.

According to the Governors, the meeting will also discuss the political future of the region ahead of the August general elections.

The 3 Lower Eastern Governors had promised to work with Raila Odinga ahead of the 2022 general elections and are likely to lobby the region towards that direction.

On the other side, Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is in One Kenya Alliance which is presenting itself as a third force ahead of the August elections.
