Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio Threatens to Quit Raila Running mate selection panel

Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua has threatened to leave the seven-member Advisory panel that is searching for Raila Odinga’s Running mate.

Kiio stated that there were dishonest deals going in the panel going against the mandate of the team. This he says is because even after Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu’s name had been dropped it was later added in the short list.

He noted that he would rather quit the panel than sit and watch as such underhand deals are transacted.

The vocal senator noted that Raila had put it clear that he needed someone who can help him win the election. Due to this the panel he says should consider someone not because of their friendship or emotions as this may lead to failure.

Kiio told Raila that if he doesn’t pick Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as his Deputy then the Kamba community will fill another candidates basket.

“If Raila wants to rule Kenya on 9th August then Kalonzo should be his deputy. I’m saying this because im in the team discussing such issues. I’m saying this without fearing anyone other than God, If Raila fails to do this let him forget about Kamba votes,” he said.

He noted that it would be a great disrespect to the Kamba community if Kalonzo is not picked. Kiio spoke this at his home in Kyondoni where he met residents drawn from the county for his campaign launch and prayer service.

The panel on Friday this week released a list of seven people who had been shortlisted. They included Martha Karua, Sabina Chege, Kalonzo Musyoka, Hassan Joho, Peter Kenneth, Gideon Moi and Stephen Tarus.

The list was later amended by the panel and Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu’s name and that of Peter Munya among others included.
