Matungulu MP Stephen Mule and Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu Sunday clashed over the recent Machakos County Auditor General’s report.
Mule asked Governor Wavinya Ndeti to demystify the Auditor general’s report claiming that the county government of Machakos spent over 500 million shillings in illegal tenders and floured procurement.
While speaking in Tala Mule noted that the people of Machakos need transparency and accountability on the usage of their tax if the report by the auditor general is anything to go by.
The lawmaker claimed that the county government has been taking the electorates for a ride and has failed to deliver its mandate.
“It is funny that whenever we speak against some of the acts of the county government we are told that we are interested in the seat. The other day we saw the auditor general’s report that leaves us in question on how our money was spent. Some money was paid to a Sacco, pension money worth sh.178 million cannot be accounted for among other things,” said Mule.
While defending Wavinya, Senator Agnes Kavindu said that the report comprised deeds done by the former regime led by Dr. Alfred Mutua.
Kavindu added that she has a report to confirm that indeed Wavinya is not involved but rather inherited debts of almost three billion shillings which she was struggling to pay.
She noted that she has been doing her job diligently in oversight and representation and would ensure there is no misdeed in the county.
