Machakos Senator Aspirant John Mutua Katuku has explained why Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka was not chosen as Raila Odinga’s running mate.
Speaking after a church service in Ngunga, Matungulu sub-county, Katuku who is Azimio la Umoja Lower Eastern Coordinator said that in naming the running mate, numbers mattered a lot and Kalonzo compared to Karua lacked the numbers.
“What was going on while we were looking for a Deputy was hard work because it was all about numbers and Mount Kenya has 8 million votes while in Ukambani we have 2 million votes and there was no need for Raila to choose Ngilu or Kalonzo and we lose the presidential seat,” said Katuku.
Katuku further said that Martha Karua was the right woman for the job of Deputy President for she was fearless and would ensure that corruption in the country is dealt with.
“Supporters of Kalonzo need to understand why Raila had to choose Karua is because of numbers and that Martha Karua is a fighter and she would ensure that corruption in the country would be dealt with because it is what has been ailing us a community,” he said.
The Former Assistant Minister further claimed that Maendeleo Chap Chap joining Kenya Kwanza had no impact calling on people from Ukambani to ensure they work together with Raila Odinga as he was going to form the next Government after August.
