Renowned Kamba Benga artist Ben Mbatha, popularly known as Kativui, has warmed up to his long-time industry colleague Alex Katombi, revealing the deep bond they share both personally and professionally.
Speaking about their relationship, Kativui acknowledged that they have been through a lot together, though he remained tight-lipped about the details.
“When I say we have been through a lot, it does not mean it’s bad things—just that I cannot say them,” Kativui remarked, hinting at the depth of their shared experiences.

The two artists, who have dominated the Kamba Benga scene for years, not only started their music journeys together but also founded their two legendary bands—Kyaume Boys Band and Nguuni Lovers—simultaneously.
“Our bands were born together, so they are twins,” bragged Kativui.
In a rare revelation, Kativui disclosed that Katombi was instrumental in the success of his first album, as he was the creative force behind the tunes that introduced him to the music industry.
The revelation sheds light on the unbreakable partnership between the two musicians, who have remained key figures in shaping Kamba Benga music.
