Ex-Makueni MCA jailed for threatening to kill sitting MCA

Dennis Wambua Masavu, who is the immediate former MCA for Kiteta/Kisau Ward in Mbooni East Constituency, Makueni County has been sentenced to two years in jail for threatening to kill his successor.

According to the Daily Nation, Masavu was charged with threatening to kill Mainga while speaking at Ngoni Village in Mbooni East on 11th March 2023. Masavu said that although he has lost a court case, he will never accept defeat since his victory was stolen, and thus between him and the sitting MCA one will die.

“My victory was stolen from me, I won’t accept that at all. It’s either the current MCA dies or I die because my votes can’t be stolen then the courts went on to order that I pay someone Ksh. 1 Million,” Masavu Said.

Masavu issued the death threats to the current MCA after he lost his election petition at Tawa Law Courts and was ordered to pay Ksh. 1 Million as the costs. Masavu issued the threats while attending a dowry marriage ceremony where he blamed the family members for not voting for him but he vowed that he would ensure that there would be a by-election.

The threats didn’t go well with the family members who reported to Ngoni Police Station and after the local police failed to act on the same, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) from Nairobi took over the matter and investigated the former MCA.

Masavu was convicted under section 215 of the Criminal Procedure Code where Senior Principal Magistrate Ms. Zainab Abdul said that Masavu was guilty as charged with the offense of threatening to kill Mainga and so he will serve two years in jail. However, Masavu has 14 days to appeal the sentence.
