Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti launched ‘Maziwa ya Mama program’ Thursday at Kyemutheke primary school in Mavoko sub-county to give free milk to public ECDE pupils across the county.
Speaking during the launch the Governor noted that the program is the first of its kind in the history of devolution in Kenya
“This great milestone by my government will not only improve children’s nutrition but also boost enrollment in our preschool centers,” Wavinya said.
The Governor added education is the main pillar that will continue to hold the progress of the great county
“The Maziwa ya mama program will enhance children’s nutrition in basic education for a better learning experience ” she added.
During the launch of the milk program, she also flagged off county scholarships for extremely needy students drawn from 40 wards across the county who are expected to join form one in different secondary schools across the country.
The students will benefit from a full secondary school scholarship for their four-year education.
“Go shine! We wish the students the very best as they begin their educational journey” she said
