Governor Wavinya, DG Mwangangi fire back at CS Alfred Mutua

Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti and her Deputy, Francis Mwangangi, have strongly responded to recent remarks by Labour Cabinet Secretary Dr. Alfred Mutua, accusing him of making baseless claims that the current administration has run down the county.

While issuing land allotment letters at the Mulinge scheme in Mlolongo on Saturday, Governor Wavinya dismissed the criticism, suggesting Mutua’s comments were driven by jealousy.

“I am not a noisy person; you’ll never hear me responding to people who are not in my class,” said Wavinya. “Do you want me to answer them or work for you? Most of these men are just jealous. They were in power and did nothing.”

Deputy Governor Mwangangi also weighed in during a separate press briefing in Machakos, criticizing the former Governor’s conduct and questioning his legacy.

“I want to correct the former Governor, Dr. Alfred Mutua. He is now a Cabinet Secretary and should respect the leadership of this county,” said Mwangangi. “He was Governor for 10 years — we know what he did. He lied to us, even about his personal life. After 10 years, we were told his marriage was a contract.”

He further addressed Mutua’s comments regarding public facility charges.

“It is not the wish of the County Government to charge KSh 50 for hospital access or use of facilities. That is a directive from the National Government — the one he now serves. When he speaks here, he must tell the truth.” He added.

Last week, CS Mutua accused the Wavinya-led administration of mismanaging county affairs, citing issues such as charges for public toilets, poor street lighting, and deteriorating conditions at People’s Park. Missed the story? check it out below;
